Which of the seven Scottish Kings named James lends his name to our Edinburgh hotel isn’t clear. But The King James is a suitably royal name for a hotel located just off Edinburgh’s world-famous Princes Street, and just a short walk from the Royal Mile, dominated by Edinburgh Castle at one end and the palace of Holyroodhouse, still the Queen’s official residence in the Scottish capital, at the other.
Directions
To reach The King James by road… From the M9 and M8, pick up the A8 and follow signs for Edinburgh city centre. The King James is located at the end of Princes Street, near the St James Shopping Centre. We have parking for 20 cars available on site at an additional charge. If you’re coming to The King James by rail… Edinburgh Waverley mainline station is a three-minute walk (0.1 miles) from The King James.
From Edinburgh Airport… If you’re flying into Edinburgh Airport, The King James is about 10 miles away by road; allow half an hour by car or taxi, and 35 minutes by public transport.
